It’s beginning to look a lot like Lagos…

I’m sat next to a jolly Greek man taking his last phone calls before the plane takes off to Lagos. There is every nationality on this Lufthansa flight to Nigeria, including some beautiful classic African attire throughout the plane. We’re just about ready to fly.

This blog will hope to document the next 6 months of a musical trip in search for the music I love. I’ve always had a voracious appetite for music and without any ties to home for a little while, and some inheritance sat there ticking over, now was the time to go and see all of my favourite musical places in one go. I’m taking in West Africa, primarily Nigeria, followed by Ethiopia, Japan, New Orleans and Jamaica. And I can’t believe it’s really happening.

Over the next few weeks I’ll post about music, people and things, with I hope lots of pictures and video, and search for the folklore, essence and passions of the respective areas. I’ll explore what music is to people, the relationship between music and the surrounding environment and simply just take in as much of the stuff as possible. Cosmic!
